Honours for School of Architecture Director
Rick
Haldenby, director of the School of Architecture, has been invested as a Fellow
of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. He is the first third-generation
Fellow named by the Institute. Haldenby has also been named Chair of the Council
of Canadian University Schools of Architecture and a member of the Board of
Directors of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. [more]
Mechanical Engineering Students Win Honda Design Competition
A team of mechanical engineering students from Waterloo led by grad
student Steve Samborsky has placed first in the Honda Canada HQP Poster
Competition and won a prize of $4,500. The national competition took place at
the AUTO21
Network of Centres of Excellence Scientific Conference held in
Vancouver last week. The winning UW team is investigating new design methods to
advance regenerative braking systems. [more]
Nanotechnology Student Among Canada's Top 20 Under
20
Keith Peiris, a current Waterloo Engineering student in
nanotechnology engineering, received one of Canada's Top 20 Under 20 Awards on
June 6, 2006. This award recognizes outstanding innovation, leadership and
achievement. The recipients of this prestigious youth award are chosen from
thousands of nominees from all across Canada. [more]
