thankful to the Government of Canada for recognizing my talents and inviting
me to join the Prime Minister and other top government officials and businessmen.
Furthermore I will get an opportunity to meet the top government officials
of China and Hong Kong. I am ever grateful to Rt. Hon. John Chretien,
the Prime Minister of Canada, Hon. Pat O'Brien, the Parliamentary Secretary
to the Minister of International Trade, Hon. John Manley, the Minister

are also from United States. If you depend on one country and if that
country's economy is not doing well, we are going to suffer" the

Keith Peiris, the President & CEO of Cyberteks
Design meeting with Ralph Guild, the Chairman of Interep, in New York,
The Team Canada 2000, under the leadership of the Prime Minister of
Canada, Hon. Jean Chretien, and with active participation of Provincial
Premiers and Territorial Government Leaders, will open doors for Canadian
Companies, and help increase their profile before Chinese and Hong Kong
decision-makers at a pivotal time in the bilateral relationship between
Canada and China. The year 2000 marks the thirtieth anniversary of Canada-China
diplomatic relations - highly opportune time to return to the destinations
that were visited during the inaugural Team Canada mission in 1994.
China and Hong Kong together represent Canada's third largest trading
partner, and are key markets for Canadian products and services across
a wide range of sectors. China's healthy and sustained economic growth
is underlined by a strong government commitment to infrastructure development
and technology improvement. An emerging private sector has an increasingly
important role in the Chinese economy, and in expanding China's international
trade and investment links. Of tremendous importance is China's much anticipated
accession to the World Trade Organization, which will open its markets
further to Canadian exporters, lowering tariff barriers and sustaining
the development of a transparent and predictable business environment.
The 12-year old President & CEO of Cyberteks Design is a grade 7
student of St.Bernadette's Catholic School in London, Ontario, Canada.
